36th Chamber of Shaolin where intense Kung Fu training makes Gordon Liu a Kung Fu Master
The " 36th Chamber of Shaolin " 1978 (aka "Shaolin Master Killer"), could widely be considered one of the best Kung Fu movies made. WHY? Well for one, its a great story about a student (San Te)who is being sought after by the Manchu's as being a traitor.
San Te, played by
Gordon Liu
, escapes and heads for the Shaolin Temple so he can learn Kung Fu and be able to teach his people how to defend themselves against the Manchu's (Government officials).
San Te is accepted to the Temple even though he used cunning to get in, only after a short time he starts to make his way through the Chambers to mastership.
Next, I would say this movie is a huge classic because of the whole training process San Te goes through. This is one of those movies that really shows the obstacles one has to go through in order to become a Martial Arts Master.
Before I saw this movie I only had only seen certain movies that showed the training process, and it's only for a few minutes and next thing you know that character is a champion fighter.
Well with 36 Chambers 70 percent of the movie is training so you get to experience who the character is and what he goes through in a more deeper level than other movies.
Finally, this movie ranks amongst the top because it was the first of its kind to show what went on inside the Shaolin Temple.
I remember after watching this movie as a teenager how I wanted to go to the Shaolin Temple in China and become a Shaolin Monk to study Kung Fu.
It never happened.
But it did help create more love for Martial Arts as well as the movies. I guess that's why
"36th Chamber of Shaolin" is more than your typical Kung Fu film. It's a film of inspiration and determination that anyone could appreciate.
I'm always interested in the opinions of other Kung Fu Movie fans. Did you enjoy this movie? Did it bug the heck out of you? I want to know what you thought about it.
Comments that will make you go Hmmmmm......
