70's movie can't remember title

The movie has a guy that fights with a very heavy spear and a young boy i think student who cannot pick it up. i remember a villans weapon was a chain made up of sharp blades i wish i knew the name. It was that heavy spear that makes me remember it. hope somebody here can help me.
