"Enter the Dragon" is one of my favorite
Bruce Lee
movies of all time. This is by far, one of the best classic martial arts movies ever made. In this movie Bruce Lee is like an Asian version of 007.
"Enter the Dragon" is about an Agent who is sent to an island near Hong Kong to investigate and to participate in a tournament given by the Multi-millionaire Han who is secretly an Asian Drug Lord.
The movie starts out with Bruce Lee and
Sammo Hung
fighting in a match at the Shaolin Temple.
Of course, Bruce takes Sammo out then finishes with a double summer sault over the raised arms of several monks.
The way the movie starts you know you going to be in for a treat.
You have great actors John Saxon playing 'Roper' and Jim Kelly playing 'Williams' in the movie as well.
Once on the island everyone is treated like kings. As Roper puts it "Everybody's getting fattened up for the kill".
Han's pissed because he finds out someone was snooping around the island at night which is against the rules.
He then goes about trying to figure out who it was and make him pay.
The one thing I didn't like in the movie was that I would have preferred that Lee and Williams finished off Han.
I just feel Williams was the better fighter but Roper had the bigger role plus it was unheard of to have the Asian and Black characters be heroes in 1970's Hollywood.
Could you imagine an Asian man saving the day in 70's Hollywood?
So, now Han wants Roper to join forces with him. And traffic drugs all over the world. Controlling people everywhere.
Some great storyline happens, that I'm not going to tell you here in case your are the only person left on the planet who hasn't seen this movie.
But I will tell you that the ending fight scene where Lee and Han battle it out is terrific.
Bruce Lee puts on one of his best displays of fighting recorded on film in "Enter the Dragon".
My favorite part is the scene when Bruce shows his skills using nunchucs to whip up on everyone.
The fight scene was so good that Hans himself after capturing Lee had to say his performance was extraordinary.
This movie has great storyline, beautiful cinematography, as well as great fighting scenes. Its a movie that never dies.
What also makes this movie great is that it was the first Asian martial arts movie made by an American production company.
Along with epic box office success, "Enter the Dragon" made Bruce Lee an instant star, and is one of the best classic martial arts movies of all times.
Even to this day "Enter the Dragon" can be seen on AMC which I know is on one of the
Direct TV Channels
on cable TV.
I'm always interested in the opinions of other Kung Fu Movie fans. Did you enjoy this movie? Did it bug the heck out of you? I want to know what you thought about it.
Comments that will make you go Hmmmmm......
