Jackie Chan from a Fan Perspective

The Jackie Chan biography is about a Kung Fu legend. Jackie Chan is the man when it comes to being funny and still able to kick butt.

Having a career that's spanned over four decades Including Kung Fu movies like "Drunken Master" , "Eagle Shadow Fist", "Snake Fist Fighter" and the blockbuster trilogy "Rush Hour", "Rush Hour 2", "Rush Hour 3" and his latest smash hit "The Karate Kid" Jackie has done it all.

Starting out as a Peking Opera performer, which is an art form combining dance, gymnastics and martial arts.

Now he acts, produces, choreographs, writes and does any other job you can think of for film. He even has his own cartoon series.

Back in the day a lot of the Peking performers were taught by martial artists. Jackie went into the martial arts film industry from there. As did Sammo Hung who grew up in the Peking Opera with Jackie. It was Samo who brought Jackie into the Kung Fu film industry.

One of the first films that I saw Jackie in was "Big Brawl".

I didn't really care for the movie itself, but I saw something in Chan that they didn't really display in the film because Hollywood has never known how to film choreographed martial art moves the right way.

What I like about Jackie is his way of combining his Peking roots along side his Kung Fu training and his natural comic abilities.

He seemed to continuously evolve as a martial artist. To the point where he transcended as an actor and became famous world wide.

It's ironic that they wanted to make Jackie the next Bruce Lee . He was smart enough to know there can only be one Bruce.

He figured instead of being like Bruce Lee better to be the opposite. So he developed his comedy as opposed to Bruce Lee's seriousness.

Jackie Chan wasn't the Kung Fu fighter you feared, he was the Kung Fu fighter you laughed with.

He wasn't afraid to show his weakness and turn that weakness in the end into a strength.

Personally i don't rate Jackie Chan & think his only good movie was drunken master. This movie was only great because it starred the real drunken master ...
