Jet Li Biography - Anything you can do I can do......
The Jet Li Biography begins, in Beijing, the People's Republic of China.
Li's father passed when he was around two years old. Life was not easy for Li the youngest of 2 boys and 2 girls.
Li began practicing Wushu at the age of eight with the Beijing Wushu Team, an athletic group organized to teach martial arts through developing ones mind, body and soul.
Through his Wushu training he would go on to win fifteen gold medals and one silver medal in the Chinese Wushu championships.
Li is a master of many styles of Wushu, including Northern Longfist Style, Drunken fist, Praying mantis fist, Tai chi, and a few other Shaolin styles. Li is also affluent in weapons, such as Three Sectional Staff, Pole, and Broadsword.
The Jet Li biography continues as his Wushu success lead him to a career as martial arts film star, beginning in mainland China and then continuing into Hong Kong.
Li made his debut with the 1982 film Shaolin Temple.
Some of his more famous Chinese films include "Once Upon a Time in China", and "Fist of Legend" (one of my favorites).
In 1998 Jet li made his American debut with the movie Lethal Weapon 4. His next film would be "Romeo Must Die" (2000) which was a box office hit.
In 2001, he did two more Hollywood films, "The One" and "Kiss Of The Dragon".
In 2002, he would release the epic film "Hero" to the Chinese market. "Hero" was very successful and became the highest grossing film in China at the time.
Another American made film I enjoyed that Li would make was a film titled "Unleashed" released in 2005. Li portrays an adult with the mental state of a child who has been raised like a dog.It is one of Li's most diverse acting roles in America.
In 2006 while back in China, Li made his next film
"Fearless",
this film was released worldwide and was also a huge commercial success. Although he continues to make martial arts films, "Fearless" would be the last of Wushu epic Jet Li movies.
Jet Li's latest release "The Forbidden Kingdom" made with fellow Kung Fu movie great
Jackie Chan
was an instant commercial success.
