Sammo Hung , From top to bottom he's One Big Bro.

The Sammo Hung Biography begins in Hong Kong. Both of his parents worked in the film industry as wardrobe artists.

He was raised by his grandparents who also worked in the film industry.

At the age of 9 Sammo Hung joined the China Drama Academy, a Peking opera school, in 1961.

He stayed until he was around 17yrs of age. Sammo's Master at the school was Yu Jim Yuen.

Hung became a main player in Sifu Yuen's 'Seven Little Fortunes' group, which is how the school made it's money.

It was made up of the best behaved and most talented students in their early teens from The China Drama Academy.

This included Kung Fu legends Jackie Chan and Yuen Biao as well.

At 14, Hung was chosen by a teacher to work in the Hong Kong film industry performing stunts for movies.

This would be the beginning of a long film career for Sammo that would include directing, producing, choreographing, stuntwork, acting, and anything else he could get hired to do.

At 16 it was a sort of graduation for Sammo and he left the Seven Little Fortunes to pursue his film career.

When Sammo received his wages from stunt work, the story is that he would go back to the group and give spending money to his brothers.

Although other's have reported that the brother's felt Sammo to be a bully.

Sammo suffered an injury around 16yrs. (although I can't seem to find out what kind of injury it was and any info on this would be appreciated)

Apparently it lasted for a good while and some say because of this Sammo Hung weight ballooned.

Other sources say that Sammo Hung weight was apparent even as a 8 yr old child.(would love to hear what you've heard on this).

From 14 to 22 Sammo worked for the Shaw Brothers, Golden Harvest. Working his way up the ladder.

In 1973 he was seen in "Enter the Dragon" playing the Shaolin student Bruce fights.

It wasn't until 1977 that Sammo got cast in his first leading role in "Shaolin Plot". This year also marked Hung's directorial debut with "The Iron-Fisted Monk".

He continued to make movies and build his fame through the rest of the 70's and 80's with movies such as "The Magnificent Butcher" , "Enter the Fat Dragon", Millionaire's Express", "The Prodigal Son" and "Knockabout".

It was Hung's choreography that redefined the style of Kung Fu movies. He is credited with putting martial arts movies in a more urban setting in modern times.

Although I feel if Bruce Lee had lived that credit would belong to him since he opened that door in the first place.

Sammo worked with Golden Harvest for years until 1991 when they had a disagreement and Sammo left deciding to keep producing movies through his own company Bojon Films Company Ltd.

Hung never really matched the international success of classmate Jackie Chan but he did make is mark on Hollywood in 1998 when he landed his own television series 'Martial Law' making him the only Asian to star in a primetime series.

Sammo continues to work in Film and television and for a full list of his credits check out his IMDB page. A little known fact about Sammo is that he was the original choreographer and stunt co-ordinator for the movie 'Kung Fu Hustle' and left mid-way when Yuen Woo Ping stepped in to finish the movie.

I think that Sammo's comedic influence in that film is obvious and anyone who is familiar with Hung's work will be able to feel his mastery.
