Angela Mao, More than just a pretty face She's a Lady Whirlwind.

Angela Mao Ying, Daugter of Mao Yung Kang, a Peking Opera star was born in Taiwan in September 20, 1950.

Like many of her colleagues in Kung Fu Cinema, Mao was an artist with the Peking opera actress before becoming the most famous Kung Fu woman in cinema. As a child she had studied dance and ballet and attended The Fu Sheng or Lu Kwan Peking Opera school Peking Opera school in 1958.

Other Kung Fu stars that came out of Fu Sheng Peking Opera school include Chiang Sheng and Philip Kwok, two of the Venoms in " The Five Deadly Venoms "; Robert Tai from "Shaolin vs Ninja" and "The Brave Archer"; and James Tien Chun from the Bruce Lee's movies " The Big Boss ", and " The Chinese Connection ".
Angela Mao studied Hapkido at a young age as well as many different styles of martial arts. Huang Feng, the Golden Harvest director who gave shots to Famous Kung Fu stars Sammo Hung and Carter Huang, discovered Miss Mao at the age of 17. He needed someone for his film "Angry River".

Angela Mao may not be the first woman to perform martial arts in Kung Fu Movie History but she is certainly credited now to be the First Lady of Kung Fu. And she looks beautiful doing it!
