another what was the title

i remember seeing a movie on kung fu theater and i hope that someone knows the one i am thinking of. the story is about a man who repeatedly tries to defeat the bad guy using his type of kung fu. to the bad guy this has become a regular joke, until one time the man gets in a lucky shot. so the bad guy kills him. the mans son had been only taught crane style from his mother (the father only let him learn one style) the boy wants to avenge his father using his style, but the book his father wrote his style in was damaged. the son had to guess at the missing parts. one part had him put a steel ball in the top of a practice dummy and perform the task and try catch the ball at the bottom. he does beat the bad guy because the style appears to be his father's with a few twists. as you can see i managed to remember all but the title. any ideas???
