Bruce Lee is the King of Kung Fu. His presence onscreen, like in the movie
"Enter the Dragon"
is electrifying.
He made the audience (and me) feel every emotion, every punch, every kick and every scream in all his movies.
He was one of a kind.
Bruce Lee's biography
isn't your typical story because he was born in the U.S. brought up and raised in China and then returned to the U.S. to go to College.
His whole demeanor was a mixture of occidental and oriental.
Another thing I like about Bruce was that he was very contemplative. He was more than what you saw in his movies. Lee's quotes are known world wide and have influenced and educated millions, including me.
There was a purpose that he was trying to convey to his audience.
He developed his own philosophies which resulted in the development of his own martial art-form called Jeet Kun Do.
Bruce only made 4 and a half movies. We can only imagine what he could have done if he had the opportunity, but it opened the door for all other martial artists like
Jackie Chan
and
Jet Li
who now dominate the Kung Fu genre in America with movies like
"Rush Hour"
and
"Fearless"
.
Lee's biography is fascinating. His movies are epic. His philosophies impacted the world. And of course, his fight scenes are legendary.
Bruce is the reason I fell in love with
Kung Fu movies
. His discipline inspired me in my life. His dedication taught me that anything was possible if I just put my whole being into it. I would like to think that maybe I have a little bit of that spirit in me too.
Growing up I was always hoping that I would run in to Bruce somewhere and that I could secretly study under him. That he would be my Kung Fu Master. In spite of
his death
, I still have hope. ;)
