Bruce Lee Movies, and how they transformed the way Martial Arts movies would be made forever.

Bruce Lee Movies are the reason this site exists. My passion for Martial Arts movies all stem from the influence that I received from watching his movies. Bruce Lee Movies changed the whole format of Asian martial Arts film making in the early 70s.

Most Martial Arts movies before Bruce Lee started making films, were period pieces. Not to take away from these movies because these are movies that I've learned to enjoy just as much.

But Lee had a vision, being from America but raised in Hong Kong, Bruce wanted to bring what he learned from the west to the east.

In America Bruce had went to school and would eventually enter the entertainment industry where he would do several cameos and co starred in the hit series "The Green Hornet". Bruce Lee learned a lot about and from what Hollywood had to offer.

When working on the "Big Boss" Lee had run in's with the director because of creative differences and because of these differences this movie was almost canned.

When "The Big Boss" was finished and premiered, it became an instant hit.

This began the mark of a new time in Hong Kong cinema. With Lee's success all eyes where on him and with each film his star would grow that much more.

Many production companies knew they had to adjust because of the attention Lee was getting. So you started to see more movies made imitating the style and realness of Bruce Lee's movies.

One of those movies was " Five Fingers of Death" starring Lo Lieh which did very well compared to Lee's "Big Boss" but it was a different movie compared to the other movies that were coming out of a lot of the production camps in Hong Kong.

Some of the examples that separated Bruce Lee movies from others prior, are the realness you experienced from his films, the messages that he conveyed and how his movies progressed into modern classics.

"Enter the Dragon" a film that is time tested, even today when that movie airs on the AMC channel on my Direct TV, every once an a while, I find myself sitting down and watching it just like any of today's action movies.

Bruce Lee movies have so much of an influence that even after his death there are numerous movies, actors, commercials etc. that copy the man and the elements that made Bruce Lee the superstar he was.

Many of today's movies have Lee's influence , for example in the Kill Bill movies with Uma Thurman wearing the track suit that Lee wore in "Game of Death" and the fight scenes set up like several of his movie fight scenes. It's funny to see an actor right before a fight do a signature Bruce Lee pose or yell out his classic scream.

Bruce lee not only changed the way Hong Kong made Martial Arts Movies but he changed the way action fight scene are filmed period. You can say Bruce Lee movies are the template to creating a successful fight scenes when Martial Arts movie.
