Can't remember this movie title

I watched this movie while in college but its an old movie. The main character is a young swords man that was so good he never brings out his sword to fight. It is believed that if you see the blade then you are dead. In the final fight, he gets to fight a very good warrior and had to unsheathe his sword and the only way he could defeat the opponent was because his sword can break in the middle so when the opponent blocked his move the blade hinged over and cut the guy in the face leaving a thin bloodline with utter amazement in the guys face. Loved the movie but cannot remember the title.
