It's not an old school movie

The movie I'm looking for is set (and probably made) in the 80's. The hero is a martial art asian guy. His love interest is a white girl. I think she gets kill and then he wants to avenge her. I remember one scene where the hero is goofing around on a brick wall with the girl. The villains are mostly white, I think. There's also a fight scenes with machetes or butcher knives and the hero get's seriously injured and has to escape scaling down a building. If anyone has any idea of the name of this movie I would love to hear it. It was one of my favorite movies growing up.
