" Ong Bak 2 " , Tony Jaa goes in a Whole new direction with this Sequel

" Ong Bak 2 " what can I say, yes it is a good film, and yes Tony Jaa is spectacular in this film. The fight scenes are incredible. Tony Jaa is at his best in this film. I must admit that I enjoyed the first "Ong Bak". It was fresh and Tony Jaa burst onto the scene as the next new Martial Arts star.

I would even say " Ong Bak 2 " is a good follow up. The only thing that concerned me was how was this movie related to the first Ong Bak.

Now, I can be creative and make up my own reasoning about why a movie is the way it is. But I shouldn't have to create my own justifications for a movie.

The story takes place in a totally different time period than "Ong Bak" , and the main character in "Ong Bak 2 " is named Tien, a totally different character from the original.

Tien is the son of a royal family, he wants to study martial arts but his father want him to study dance.

Tien's father has conflict with the government of their land, so he sends Tien to a friend to be hidden and protected. The hideout is uncovered and Tien is taken to be hidden elsewhere only to witness his parents killed by assassins.

Tien is picked up by slave traders and because of his defiance he's thrown into a alligator pit. While fighting the alligator a Warrior and leader of Pha Beek Kru (group of expert martial artists) throws Tien a knife to see if he has the fighting spirit to be a great warrior.

Tien kills the alligator and is recruited by the group of expert martial artists.

Years later Tien becomes a expert of many weapons and fighting styles. He becomes so good that the leader of Pha Beek Kru is ready to hand his position to Tien but he notices Tien has revenge in his heart so he sends Tien out to take care of his mission.

This is where Tony Jaa showcases some of his best fight scenes. The fight scenes here are fantastic , he reminds me of

Gordon Liu in "Heroes of the East" "Hero's of the East" where Gordon uses different fight styles and weapons to defeat his competitors.

The production for this movie is much better than "Ong Bak" . They had a much larger budget for this film and it shows.

" Ong Bak 2 " is his best work , it is rumored that there were problems near the end of filming this movie and it might have effected the ending of this movie and maybe even "Ong Bak 3".

But I'll wait to get into more details on what I've read and heard about that until I've seen "Ong Bak 3" myself.

I'll keep you posted.
