The Rush Hour movie made Jackie Chan a Bonafide Hollywood Star

I never intended on reviewing the Rush Hour movie but after creating the Hollywood movie page I definitely couldn't leave it out.

I wouldn't classify "Rush Hour" as a Kung Fu movie, even though it stars one of my favorite Kung Fu stars Jackie Chan but if you love Jackie then you can't miss out on this movie.

It's one of the most fun Hollywood action films made. It stars Jackie Chan with Chris Tucker. With the fun and mystery of the "Lethal Weapon" movie series, the Rush Hour movie gave Hollywood its next big action Duo.

Chris Tucker was hilarious in this movie and really helped introduce Jackie Chan to the American audience. Even though Jackie's "Rumble in the Bronx" had done very well internationally, no one really considered him a Hollywood movie star until "Rush Hour".

Now, I have always been a huge Jackie Chan fan and was, like most of you reading this, not surprised when he finally made the cross over to American movies.

For me Jackie is most famous for playing Wong Fei Hong in " Drunken Master ". And anyone who has seen the movies where Jackie teams up with Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao like in "Wheels on Meals", "Winners and Sinners", and "Twinkle, Twinkle, Lucky Star" will see where the influence of the action for the Rush Hour movie, and all his Hollywood action movies, came from. Jackie doesn't use as much Kung Fu in "Rush Hour" as he does terrific and insane stunts! Which alone are worth the price of admission. Needless to say it's obvious why there isn't much Kung Fu. Hollywood doesn't really pack great Kung Fu action stars in its stable.

Which is why movies like The Matrix import their Kung Fu talent directly from China.

But if you aren't as schooled in Kung Fu I think that seeing "Rush Hour" will help you fall for the genius of Jackie. Think of it as an appetizer then follow it up with a real Kung Fu movie like " The Legend of Drunken Master " which is a top class Steak dinner.

Also good to note for my male Kung Fu fan counterparts, a good Hollywood Jackie Chan movie acts as a wonderful bridge to Kung Fu movies when it comes to girlfriends and wives. Women seem to fall easily for Jackie's charm and comedy and love to watch him in any movie.

mine does.
