Golden Harvest director Wong Fung was responsible for a slew of Angela Mao classics for the studio throughout the 70's but for me his best moment came in the second half of the decade in the form of 'Shaolin Plot'.
The 'plot' was simple but the cast was first class.
Chen Sing at his most ruthless. Sammo Hung at this most despicable. Kam Kong in one of his most memorable roles as a blind monk and the tag team of Korean kickers Casanova Wong and Kwong Young Moon to seal the deal. By the time we get to final fight, the main hero, James Tien is outclassed by the sheer talent on display.
The final fight between Chen Sing vs Casanova Wong & Kwong Young Moon is one of the all time classics and is one of the few that I never tire of watching.
The only downside is that the film has been so far been denied a decent DVD release but that shouldn't stop anyone from tracking this one down immediately!
