" The Legend of Drunken Master" made in 1994 through Golden Harvest Films is a story about Wong Fei Hung (
Jackie Chan
) and his adventures of helping a Chinese government official (Lau Kar Leung) prevent the British Consul from stealing Chinese artifacts that would affect the history of the country.
Wong Fei Hung is a young man in this film who hasn't fully matured yet. He still relies on the advice of his stepmother who is not the type of person you would go to in desperate situations.
Because of this reliance it puts Fei Hung in some crazy predicaments that frustrates his father played by (Ti Lung).
It's not until Fei Hung gets beaten up, after disappointing his father for drinking while in a fight, that he begins to be responsible and become the Hero we all know Wong Fei Hung to be.
The fight scenes are superb. It's Jackie Chan at his peak in this film, then you add Lau Kar Leung as your co-action director and you can't lose.
I've always maintained my love of Jackie Chan's earlier Hong Kong films but I will gladly accept "Legend of Drunken Master" in that same category.
Jackie Chan will always be known as a well rounded Martial Arts Actor, and he will also be know as one of the best Drunken Masters.
I'm always interested in the opinions of other Kung Fu Movie fans. Did you enjoy this movie? Did it bug the heck out of you? I want to know what you thought about it.
