Yuen Biao is a Kung Fu Superstar who deserves a lot more attention.

I am happy to be doing this page on one of my all time favorite Kung Fu movie performers, Yuen Biao (aka Bill Yuen and Jimmy Yuen) who was born July 26, 1957. This guy is amazing. He is a terrific Kung Fu artist as well as a brilliant comedic actor.

But that should be no surprise since he went to school at the Peking Opera named, The China Drama Academy, with the likes of Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung who are unquestionably the funniest Kung Fu actors alive. So don't let the 'drama' in China Drama Academy fool you. If you have read the other bio's on Jackie and Sammo then you already know the group of them that attended the China Drama Academy at that time were always referred to as 'The Seven Little Fortunes'.

Sammo even made a movie about their exploits as little kids at this school in an amazing biopic called "Painted Faces" which is really tough to find but a fantastic movie that I also recommend for fans of these 3 artists.

Anyways, Yuen Biao actually means 'little tiger' which seems quite appropriate when you go over his character list. He played a terrific brat when he was younger and most of my favorite films are with him in those kinds of roles.

But he has been in over 130 movies so far so I'm not going to get into all of them. I'll pick what I think are the highlights in his illustrious career.

Let's start with his first appearance where he was a stuntman and extra in Bruce Lee's "Fist of Fury" . He got to appear as a martial arts student in "Hapkido" starring Angela Mao and later he did "Broken Oath" with her.

I'm sure he really had a blast getting to be one of Bruce Lee's stunt doubles on "Enter the Dragon" . He also got to be one of the fake Bruce Lees in "Game of Death".

He did a ton of movies in the 70's that I enjoyed too, but he didn't play really big parts yet. Things like "Shaolin Plot" , "Super Kung Fu Kid", "Secret Rivals 2", "Deathblow", and "Warriors Two" that stars Sammo Hung.

I didn't really pay attention to him until he paired up with Sammo Hung and really delivered some terrific performances in movies with him including "Knockabout", "The Magnificent Butcher" and my girl's all time favorite Kung Fu movie "The Prodigal Son".

Things got even funnier when Jackie Chan was brought in and they made movies like "Meals on Wheels", "Project A", "Winner's and Sinner's" (Jackie only makes a cameo in this one), "My Lucky Stars" which also includes Lam Ching Ying from "Prodigal Son", "Twinkle, Twinkle Lucky Stars", and "Heart of a Dragon".

They all make quite an amazing team for funny ass-kicking Classic Kung Fu movies.

Post the 1980's Yuen Biao got to appear in Modern Kung Fu hits like "Once upon a Time in China", "Hero" and "Shanghai Noon".

Most recently I enjoyed his performance in "Ip Man 3" proving he is still a force to be reckoned with on screen.

Yuen Biao is still fit, ready and able to continue making Kung Fu movies so I expect to keep seeing him for a while. He and Sammo Hung have aged with great wisdom and finesse.

So if a movie has Yuen Biao credited in it, my recommendation would be see it. He never lets you down.
